Mike David Papapavlou -  Jazz Guitar & Theory

Mike picked up the guitar at the age of twelve and never looked back. Now at 25, he has performed around the world as a guitarist including Cyprus, Canada, UK and now New York City. He holds a BA in Music specializIng in Jazz Guitar Performance from Newcastle University, UK, and a MA in Musicology from the Aaron Copland School of Music, City University of New York.

He is passionate about music education and has taught students of all ages since 2010. In 2014 he was an intern at Playground Sessions, an innovative computer app that uses popular songs to teach how to play piano, co-created by Quincy Jones, with lessons taught by YouTube star David Sides. Mike now resides in the Lower East Side where he has a private music studio. He also creates daily Instagram videos so feel free to check him out at @mike_papapavlou or on his website http://mikedavidpapapavlou.com

For Mike a great musician does not necessarily make a great instructor. He believes instructors have to be patient, methodical, organized and detail oriented. They have to care about the student’s longitudinal musical development and enthusiasm for music and art.
