Abram Korsunsky - Piano, Music Theory

 

Abram Korsunsky is one of the most promising young pianists of his generation, appearing as a solo and chamber musician in numerous concerts throughout the United States. Winner of the 2014 Queens College Concerto Competition, his recent performances include appearances with the Queens College Symphony Orchestra and Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra playing Beethoven’s “Emperor” Concerto, solo and chamber recitals at the Kupferberg Center for the Arts-LeFrak Concert Hall, Flushing Town Hall, and numerous other venues. In June of 2015, he gave a series of concerts in Norway, including one at the home and museum of composer Edvard Grieg in Bergen.

 

Abram is a champion of new music, appearing in concerts sponsored by the New York Composers Circle and Long Island Composers Alliance playing works by eminent composers including Hubert Howe and Edward Smaldone. In 2013, he was part of a rare performance of Steve Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians as part of the Queens Nota Bene Ensemble.

 

 

In 2010 and 2015, he was a scholarship recipient at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival at Mannes College where he participated in master classes with pianists including Jerome Rose, Alexander Kobrin, Massimiliano Ferrati, Mykola Suk, and others.

 

A native of New York, Abram completed his Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees at the Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College. During that time he was the winner of numerous awards including the LeFrak Family Award, the Martha Feldman Award, Beatrice Schachter-Myers Award, and the Chamber Music Live Award. 

 

In addition to maintaining a private studio, Abram is the music director at Our Lady of Victory Church in New York and was most recently invited to be an Adjunct Professor at Queens College. He continues his post-graduate studies with Dr. Nina Lelchuk.
